Kayla Malone is a current Flint Urban Safety Corps AmeriCorps member set to complete her year of service in March. Kayla joined the program after graduating from Western Michigan University, excited to serve in the city of Flint.
During her year of service, Kayla has helped launch and sustain numerous programs such as the Make Trax program at Durant-Tuuri-Mott Elementary designed to encourage safe travel for students to and from school. She also helped kick off Bike Patrol and piloted River Trail Watchers, two programs that help form a safer Flint community. Kayla helped organize the Pups ‘n’ Stuff event which brought community members together, and helped lead the Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design Assessments. Kayla also designed many marketing materials, including the new logo.
After Kayla completes her service year, she plans on continuing in a nonprofit organization with a mission she is passionate about.
